PdB Dance
Tamsyn’s passion for dance began at an early age. Already a keen gymnast at the age of six she was introduced to ballet by her gymnastics coach in the hope that it might “make her more fluid”. Once she began ballet lessons Tamsyn knew that dance was a subject she had to pursue. The feeling that came with the “fluidity” she quickly grasped was something indescribable. Following her induction into ballet Tamsyn fell in love with the style of contemporary dance as a teenager and went on to study at the most acclaimed conservatories in the country (Bretton Hall, London Contemporary Dance School, Royal Academy of Dance, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance). During several years as a professional dancer Tamsyn has enjoyed working with choreographers such as Wayne McGregor, Lea Anderson and Richard Alston as well as attaining commercial credits (see bio).
Tamsyn has also held the title of Artistic Director for XS Dance Theatre (2001 – 2008) and her choreography has been showcased at many professional venues in the country including Richmond Theatre, Kenneth Moore Theatre and The Place, London.
As a qualified teacher working within GCSE, A Level and BTEC programmes and freelance at The Place, London Tamsyn is extremely experienced in delivering high energy, exciting and differentiated dance lessons to a wide range of ages and abilities in both adults and children. The contemporary style of dance taught by Tamsyn is an eclectic mix of release technique and lyrical dance with hints of jazz. Combine athletic power with her once discovered “fluidity” and you have a dynamic way of moving that has inspired many of Tamsyn’s students over the last 25 years.
